Introducing Our New Professor and Dean of Chaplaincy Dr. Malachia Brantley, D.Min


Meet Dr. Malachia Brantley, D.Min


Malachia Brantley, Jr. is a native of Newark, New Jersey. Malachia is a graduate of Virginia Union University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a

minor in Economics. In addition, he has certificates from the Amos Tuck School of

Business of Dartmouth University and Blanton Peale Institute in Pastoral Care and

Counseling. Malachia earned his Doctor of Ministry from New York Theological Seminary, and his dissertation: Reducing Recidivism among Metro-Newark Youth. In completing four units of Clinical Pastoral Education Malachia has certifications from: Association of Professional Chaplains, the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy and American Correctional Chaplains Association. Presently, Dr. Brantley is the Senior Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church and Supervisor of Religious Services at Northern State Prison Newark, New Jersey.


Dr. Malachia Brantley brings a wealth of experience to this course. With a Doctor of Ministry degree and years of service in various chaplaincy roles, Dr. Brantley has a deep understanding of the challenges and rewards of this vocation. His approach to teaching is both compassionate and rigorous, ensuring that students not only learn the theoretical aspects of chaplaincy but also develop the practical skills necessary for effective ministry.
