The Torchbearers Institute (TTI) Overview
The Torchbearers Institute seeks to identify, equip, and release Spirit-gifted and called men and women within the CCK communion to plant and transition CCK churches that glorify Christ as king and advance his Kingdom where they live, work, and serve. The Torchbearers Institute has two distinct schools which comprise its offerings and programs:

Becoming A Neighborhood Chaplain
VanGuard Siafu: Chaplaincy for the City

Our Chaplaincy Certification
CCK provides training for neighborhood chaplaincy certification through our Torchbearers Institute. This training is done in affiliation with the Seminary for Urban Leadership and the Center for Urban Chaplaincy.
We desire to identify, equip, and release a new generation of lay and ordained ministers in the CCK network: Chaplains who sensitively offer care, presence, and Christlike hospitality to the broken and the lost in at risk neighborhoods.
About Neighborhood Chaplaincy
Neighborhood chaplaincy provides an opportunity for qualified spiritual laborers to embody Christ’s presence and love in communities where many suffer alone and hope often feels scarce. By embodying the listening and healing presence of the Savior, we can offer support and assistance to the well-being of our neighborhoods.
• Chaplains build deep, lasting relationships within the community rather than conducting drive-by ministry, earning trust through their presence and ministry that allows them to address both spiritual and practical needs with a genuine understanding of local struggles.
• Neighborhood chaplaincy meets people exactly where they are and where they live—in their pain, addiction, poverty, or desperation—offering the grace and presence of Christ without judgment while providing tangible support through crisis intervention, resource connection, and advocacy.
• Chaplains serve as bridges between isolated at-risk communities and broader networks of support, creating pathways for healing, restoration, and spiritual growth that ripple outward to impact their neighborhoods through the cumulative power of individual lives touched by the love of Christ.
If you feel called to offer incarnational presence to those in need, neighborhood chaplaincy will not be just another ministry opportunity. Instead, CCK’s vital training will equip you how to be God’s agent for advocacy for the marginalized and vulnerable, allowing you to witness firsthand how Jesus’ presence and love can break cycles of despair and bring his light to the darkest places.
